Kicking Off Summer with the DMV

unnamed-9

Chris and I spent the last weekend in the DMV (D.C./Maryland/Virginia) area. We were so  happy to be back after a few months away.

unnamed-9It was a busy weekend, but we still made time to walk through each place to see how each city has its own charm and personality.

Our first stop was Baltimore for my cousin’s wedding. The ceremony and reception took place in Fells Point, which led to most of our sight seeing and exploring to take place there. Thankfully, my cousin made us an “unofficial guide to Baltimore”- very helpful for a Type A soul like me.

I enjoyed being by the water, looking at the colorful buildings, and of course shopping in the boutiques.

My favorite spot had to be Poppy & Stella, basically an Olympus for the shoe gods.

Poppy & Stella was everything I look for in an amazing shopping experience- range of styles, cute jewelry, calming atmosphere, organized products, and of course fabulous clothes and shoes! Once I walked into the store I knew this was a serendipitous moment I had to take advantage of….finding shoes for our honeymoon getaway!

{ The winner in my search! Can’t wait to wear these in Europe!}

After a memorable wedding at Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park, we traveled to D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia. We stayed at the new Hotel Indigo in Old Town. The hotel became one of our new favorite spots to stay in Alexandria!

We enjoyed our time in Alexandria, a place that has a special spot in our hearts. If you ever travel there, it is imperative to stop by Pop’s Ice Cream. They have the best homemade ice cream with a wide range of flavors.

It was a fantastic weekend spent with our family and friends. The weather was perfect with clear skies and high temperatures. The trip was a perfect kick-off to our summer of adventures! Are any of you traveling this summer or have a favorite place to visit?

xoxo,
